On our way to Arlie Beach

on

We had a long drive ahead of us. Getting to Arlie Beach took us about six hours. Therefore we could not spend much time at Mission Beach. Could have done with a bit more time here though.

Along the way we stopped at beautiful lookouts…

… and drove on roads that our navigation system commented with “follow the road for 100km”. Thanks to cruise control and Bluetooth connected phones with good music and stories it was an entertaining and relaxed drive. Overall the road conditions are even better than German roads.

We reached Arlie Beach in the evening and quickly stocked up on groceries so we could fix dinner in the apartment.

First impression of Arlie Beach: could be a really beautiful place but the beach front reminded us of Gran Canaria with all the touristy shops.

Tomorrow we’ll sail to the Whitsundays from here. Really looking forward to it!

The sunset is fantastic:

But as it is winter season in Australia in August the sun sets as early as six o’clock and the temperatures are getting lower as we keep driving South. The prediction for Arlie Beach is 22- 27 degrees Celcius during the day and 7- 13 degrees Celcius during the night. (August 29th)

PS: A nice gentleman feom Melbourne recommend a red wine to me on the Kakadu tour. Today we finally got to try it. It’s delicious!
