Heading to Ayers Rock

on

The time in Sydney was up quite quickly. Already we are heading towards our next destination: Ayers Rock.

We decided to fly instead of drive because we didn’t want to spend so many hours on the road in the middle of nowhere with the kids.

But those are not the only challenges when traveling with kids: right after we entered the departure area of the airport this morning B noticed that she had left her mobile phone in the back seat of the taxi. Hurriedly F got out the taxi receipt and I tried to chase down our friendly Chinese taxi driver. Going through curb side assistance and then through the taxi company’s switch board we were able to locate the taxi driver. Luckily he was still at the airport waiting at arrivals for new passengers. He was friendly enough to come into the arrival hall on foot to return the mobile phone to us! His karma certainly scored a few bonus points today! B was so happy to have her phone returned to her she promised to never to leave a place again without looking back for things she might have forgotten. Lesson learned,  I hope!

Well, traveling with kids there’s never a dull moment! Whether it is spiders or lost mobile phones.

The flight to Ayers Rock provides you with incredible views of an ever changing landscape. From the large town of Sydney

Over the  Blue Mountains

Across the dessert

Seeing this landscape one can easily understand why this part of the country is called the “Red Centre”

And finally a first glimpse of Ayers Rock from the plane
