Santa Barbara

In Santa Barbara we had 1,5 days for sightseeing and shopping. The first thing we did after getting settled in the hotel was drive down to the pier.

While Hubby got some maps from the visitor center we explored the beach.

Then we took a walk around the pier.

Equipped with the map for the scenic route around Santa Barbara we drove along the shore up into the hills and down to the beach again.

Along the way we passed stunning houses and villas built into the hills.

The next day we decided to do the “red tile walking tour”, a stroll through down town with the most important historic landmarks along the route.

Sunken Gardens

We started at the Courthouse where we walked up the clock tower. From here we had stunning views over Santa Barbara all the way to the ocean. The Courthouse itself is also worth a visit with its Spanish- Moorish architectural style.

We walked down the red tile walk until we hit State Street- Santa Barbara’s downtown shopping area.

Paseo Nuevo

It is a beautiful, palm lined street with shops and cafés on both sides.

We enjoyed Santa Barbara very much. It must be a wonderful place to live (if you got the money to pay for it).
