Amsterdam was the next stop on our trip. We checked into the hotel and then walked through Vondelpark to the museums quarter.
In Vondelpark we came across an open air concert by Goldkimono, a Dutch band. We had never heard of them but quite enjoyed their music and kept listening to them on our road trip.
One thing on our to do list for Amsterdam was the Moco museum. They display the works of Banksy and other young artists. The museum is clearly targeted to the younger generation and the crowed was a lot younger than in the Rijksmuseum next door.
From Amsterdam we drove to Westeinderplassen for the evening where our friends have a boat. We enjoyed an relaxing evening on the water together.
The next morning we visited Amsterdam University and walked around campus.
They have an interesting program called PPLE. It is a small-scale, interdisciplinary Bachelor’s programme that connects four disciplines: Politics, Psychology, Law and Economics. It’s become somewhat famous because the future Queen of the Netherlands Amalia studies here.
They also offer programs in “Communication Science”, “Computational Social Science”, Psychology, Sociology – all on my daughter’s list of interest. Lots of options to choose from. In any case Amsterdam currently ranks high in her favorites.
