Getting up early has its perks. We started that day with a natural spa day at Zebedee springs. It is a permanent thermal spring that is fed by warm water from deep within the earth and flows down rocks into multiple little pools. The El Questro station owners only open up the area between 7 and 12 in the morning. The rest of the day is reserved for “premium” guests. Be there early because it gets really full and the pools only can hold a few people and parking lot fills up fast too. But it is sensational and sooo relaxing! We had a few encounters with water spiders but apparently these were harmless.
Our second stop of the day was at Emma Gorge. The hike was quite challenging and long. Also it was the first time on this trip that were we were informed about what to do when encountering snakes. Luckily we didn’t see any even though apparently they are common in the area.
The gorge once again is very different from what we have seen so far with water dripping from rocks covered in lush green plants. The water was one of the coldest we encountered so far (but handrail pool is still the winner). After hiking back down again we had a refreshing drink in the cafe at Emma Station and then returned back to the camping side for lunch.
The afternoon was free time. As it was incredibly hot we just sat at the bar area and had a few drinks. After a couple of intense days this break was highly appreciated.
Just some closing comments about El Questro: The station was bought by an investor a while ago and you can see that the area is being prepared for many more tourists. All along our trip so far, we have said a few times already that the timing of our trip was excellent as there are more and more tourists coming which will change the area quite a bit.
