Rottnest Island

on

Temperatures in Fremantle were lower than what we were used to after the last weeks up North but considering it was winter it was still quite pleasant outside. We wanted to spend the day on Rottnest Island cycling and looking for Quokas.

Already back home I had booked tickets for the ferry to take us to Rottnest Island. These tickets also included bike hires for the day.

Rottnest Island is known for it’s Quoka population. Theses cute little creatures live in the Southwestern part of Australia. Their cute appearance is deceiving, however. When a female quoka carrying a little one (a “joey” as Australians call it) is persued by a predator it will drop the joey in order to escape itself.
