After exploring Sydney downtown yesterday we headed for the outskirts of the city the following day.

We parked at Shelly Beach and did a short hike up to the cliffs. Then we spent a few hours at the beach itself swimming and relaxing.

Shelly is a nice beach with calm waters and something I really appreciate: shade.

Manly

Once we had enough of swimming we continued on to Manly for fish and chips at the waterfront and a walk through town.

Manly is very touristy. It is certainly popular with the people of Sydney as it is easily accessible via ferry from Circular Quay.

Manly beach is considered to be one of the best beaches in the world. I honestly doubt that, I have seen much more beautiful beaches around Australia and the world. Don‘t get me wrong- the beach is okay but nothing really spectacular. I‘d prefer Shelly beach anytime. Or Bondi beach.

Nonetheless we spent a wonderful day here.
